Biosphere reserves: reconciling the conservation of biodiversity with economic development

Biosphere reserves are sites recognized under UNESCO's Man and the Biosphere Programme, which innovate and demonstrate approaches to conservation and sustainable development. They are of course under national sovereign jurisdiction, yet share their experience and ideas nationally, regionally and internationally within the World Network of Biosphere Reserves.

Andrew Crowther of Those Best placed will be presenting to the Australian Tourism Futures Conference on 17 August on "Marketing Australia's Green Cauldron"

If 1,000 people from Tweed Shire cared enough to collect 80 votes, signatures, names, emails and addresses from their neighbours, I would be pleased to take their direct democratic decision to UNESCO for the Australian Tourism Futures Conference:

Should UNESCO be requested to accept the community's nomination of the Wollumbin Biosphere Reserve as a World Biosphere Reserve?

Yes or No?

One month.  1,000 committed environmentalists. 80 signatures each.

It can be done.

Don't say you weren't asked!
